Trump Has Dems Panicking
When I was a kid, there really were racists around, a lot of them. They ran openly for office. They were proud of it. I recall names like J.B. Stoner, Lester Maddox and others who made political careers touting racism. Some, like Maddox and Zell Miller, both who became Governors of Georgia, eventually renounced racism. Some say they were among Georgia’s greatest governors. Today, the Democrat Party, the original party of slavery, whose numbers throughout history are replete with the names of consummate racists, has through guile and expense of energy convinced a substantial portion of the population that they are the party with moral authority sufficient to define who is a racist and who is not. Maybe in one respect they are right. As the expression goes, “Takes one to know one.”
But instead of pointing out true racism, those Democrats use the term indiscriminately, describing any political opponent as racist whenever threatened on an issue. And evidently, to some degree that tactic must work on those whose minds have been bent over time to think that way. With them, there is nothing anyone can do to inform them. Just forget about trying. Only time, and by that I mean a lapse of generations, might change the way those folks think.
In keeping, this past week none of the people’s work got done, yet again, in our nation’s capital. Anytime the U.S. House of Representatives might have convened to further the purposes of the American people was instead pre-empted by those debating racist claims against political enemies on the House floor.
It all started when Speaker Nancy Pelosi back-handedly threatened four Democrat House Members, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts after they voted against humanitarian aid at the border. Pelosi threatened that she might work for those four to be replaced in 2020, expressing that “a glass of water with a ‘D’ could win their districts.” Expecting the four who have now been effectively dubbed, “the squad” to back down and get in line, Pelosi was surprised to find that she, a Democrat House Speaker, would be the next recipient of a calculated attack in-kind, the squad labeling her comments as attacks on ‘women of color.’ Obviously, the squad had taken their Democrat tutelage seriously, learning the art of projecting one’s own racism onto others quite effectively.
Noting that, and with hardly a delay, during one of his off-the-cuff departure press conferences, President Trump chose to defend his political arch-enemy Pelosi, saying the AOC squad is entirely wrong and that “Nancy Pelosi is not a racist.” But Trump did not stop there. No, the squad having previously uttered frequent reprehensible comments about America and Israel, and by those comments leaving the door wide open for criticism, Trump seized the opportunity and continued that the squad of unnamed progressives, whose numerous and filth-laden comments disparaging America demonstrated utter contempt for their country should, “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.” Trump followed that remark saying, “These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!”
So let’s step back for a moment and look at this. Politically speaking, in making his strong comments, Trump cleverly and successfully divided Democrats around the country into two camps, the establishment, Pelosi/Schumer camp, and the progressive camp of AOC and her squad-mates. Obviously, Trump knew from history, a house divided cannot stand.
So what happened next? Pelosi, completely confounded being caught in the middle of all this, and noting that a fracture of her caucus and political support around the country could prove disastrous in 2020, moved to try to repair the chasm Trump created. Thus, she escalated her earlier miscalculation, making still another huge mistake, slandering Trump’s campaign slogan, claiming that it what it really means is to ‘Make America White Again.’ Pelosi’s statement justified Trump to respond that Pelosi had made a racist statement, which she had. But oh, this gets better.
Noting that in this game of musical affronts she was the one left labeled a racist, surveying her options Pelosi calculated her only alternative would be to organize an over-the-top effort on the House floor to censure Trump’s statements, as the only ‘official’ racist comments by anyone involved. In so doing, Pelosi stood before the entire House convened to entertain business, and called President Trump a racist, an action that violated the long-standing rules of the House, written by none other than Thomas Jefferson, known for his skills regarding the written word. Observing the rule infraction, Forsyth County’s own 9th District US Congressman Doug Collins, appropriately stood to ask the Chairlady whether she would revise her remarks, to which Pelosi replied she had already run them by the House parliamentarian and walked off the floor.
Well, evidently Pelosi’s statement was not all true (surprise?), because the Parliamentarian subsequently ruled that her comments did in fact violate Jefferson’s rule. Egg on her face, and realizing her continued status as House Speaker might even hang in the balance, Pelosi organized a last-ditch effort for the Democrat majority to overrule the parliamentarian’s appraisal of Pelosi’s remarks, which it did, causing the parliamentarian to resign.
So what does all this mean? Very simply, it means that Democrats are desperate and panicked about the upcoming 2020 elections.
