Why I Pity the Politician

Image
One of the great things about being a builder is that practically each day I can look back at some tangible difference made in the world. I can visit projects built over 30 years ago. They are still there, each making a mark on the earth, providing evidence that we were there and accomplished something.    That is why I pity the politician. His (or her) accomplishments are rarely tangible, and when they are it’s normally starting a war to destroy things others like me built. When the spouse asks, “What did you do today,” it must be difficult to recall an entire day that God provided, day after day, and have nothing to remember as a true accomplishment. “Well let’s see… I spoke to Mrs. so-and-so. I gave a speech at so-and-so. I cut a ribbon at so-and-so…” I’m sorry, but that cannot be a very fulfilling day. The emptiness must be overwhelming.     I’ve studied all this for a while, finally arriving at the judgement that over time politicians, by and large, develop a fatal

Obama’s Iran-Con Backfired

Image
In last week’s article entitled, “Republican Congress Pulled the Wool on You,” I revealed the “con” behind the Iran Nuclear Review Act, a deception Obama and the Republicans in congress perpetrated on the American people. But I didn’t show you the con the Iranians pulled on them! So this week, let’s pull back the veil on the rest of the story, starting with the facts surrounding the leadup to the Iran Nuclear Review Act and all that happened afterward. Putting all this in perspective, consider that the narrative supposing Iran might develop a nuclear bomb first surfaced over 30 years ago , when in April of 1984 West German intelligence sources leaked reports that Iran would be capable of producing a bomb ‘within two years.’ Get that…Iran bomb…two years...1984. That report was “leaked.” Why they would do that? Since that time, trusted sources have regularly circulated allegations regarding an imminent probability of Iran possessing a nuclear weapon. One such authority ha

Congressman Woodall Pulled the Wool on You

I was asked about a remark I wrote in last week’s column, “Congress pushing the dollar over a cliff.” In it, I referenced the Iran Nuclear Review Act (HR1191) passed into law in May of 2015. I wrote that in September of 2015, congress engaged in what I termed, a “playfight,” a ruse ostensibly to stop Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran. I wrote that although the Republicans in both houses seemed vehemently opposed to Obama’s deal with Iran, they were “all in on it.” So today, I’ll show you the ruse the Republicans, including 7th District US Representative Rob Woodall, pulled on the American people, and indeed the good people of Forsyth County. This is what they do, friends. And this is why they must be replaced. In May 2015, HR1191 passed both houses of congress, quickly signed into law by Obama. In July, I caught an interview with Senator David Perdue in which he referenced congress having an opportunity to “disapprove” Obama’s deal after he signed it. To most people, that may ha

Congress Pushing the Dollar Over a Cliff

Have you been watching the US dollar lately? It is down almost 10% for the year and plunging. There is a reason for that, which should not come as a surprise to anyone who follows this column. A few weeks back, I explained that since 1975 world demand for dollars has been sustained by the petrodollar agreement between the US and the Saudis, as well with most other OPEC countries. It is a coercive system. Countries of the world must have US dollars to buy OPEC oil and gas. To obtain dollars, they must import goods to the US. So the petrodollar has been the driving force and financing mechanism of the US trade deficit all these years. But because the two are linked, if OPEC loses control of the world energy market, the US simultaneously loses control of the world currency market. When the countries of the world no longer need OPEC oil, they also don't need US dollars. And that is why the dollar is dropping. Nations are tired of US currency coercion, are no longer solely dependen
