A 2-year bilateral budget deal now agreed, has anyone noticed President Trump never talks about the federal deficit?  Does Trump not know that American Government is $22.5 trillion in debt and counting?  Does he not know that the more government borrows to spend, even on important things like infrastructure, the larger the debt becomes? When I was a kid, there really were racists around, a lot of them.  They ran openly for office.  They were proud of it.  I recall names like J.B. How many times have we heard it from the liberal left, and also the libertarian right, that Trump means to get America into another major war?  That just shows a lack of understanding.  So let’s clear that up. Now granted, Trump is different.  People do not know how to take him.  But that is because politicians rarely tell the truth.  The political class, generally, is not excited that the people might see and understand what is truly happening in this world.  And they do not desire for people to know what they are doing against the people’s interests.  Therefore, politicians talk in circles.  They speak mantra rather than message.  They hide their true purposes within crafty, circular rhetoric, which leaves listeners wondering what they just heard.  It’s a talent. President Trump is now running Federal Reserve Policy.  Remember last Fall when Fed Chairman Powell made statements about raising interest rates?  He cited a growing economy as evidence it was time.  Powell even raise rates twice.  Doing so brought ire from Trump, whose public criticisms of Fed policy have been unprecedented. Trump's latest Fed Reproach So how has Powell adjusted to Trump’s reproaches?  Powell has folded the Fed tent. Recent Fed announcements indicate a future course closely aligned with Trump’s expressed desires, pledging soon to lower rates and even usher new rounds of “quantitative easing.”  QE, as it is known, is an act by the Federal Reserve Central Bank to release dollars into the economy, supposedly in exchange for valued assets.  Recall during Obama’s Presidency, the Fed bought up mega-amounts of worthless assets from Wall Street Banks, along with U.S. Treasury bonds, to the tune of almost $4 trillion.  Those dollars...

In 2018, 7th District Representative Rob Woodall almost lost his seat to a socialist Democrat.  It was the most closely contested race in the country.  And now, after ten years in Congress, Woodall is stepping down, opening the seat.   Georgia's 7th District The 7th District consists of half of Forsyth County and most of Gwinnett.  In 2016, Hillary Clinton won Gwinnett.  Prior to that, Gwinnett turning blue was not foreseeable.  But increasing population density is the cradle of liberalism.  As counties surrounding a central city become more densely populated, they naturally take on the political attitudes of the city.  The tighter people pack together, the more rules they institute, the more individual rights they infringe, the more government control they crave, the more their politicians propose government solutions, and finally, the more they come to believe more government is the answer. Since Donald Trump became President, I will be the first to admit that 7th and 9th District Representatives Rob Woodall and Doug Collins have righted their ships, both Forsyth County Congressmen without question earnestly supporting our President.  In this new Congress, Collins has become an instrumental Trump ally in the battle against the salacious, and now-proven false accusations against our President by leading congressional Democrats in D.C.  Woodall, who announced leaving next year, has ventured in front of the cameras, as he should, and become a forceful voice of reason among the insane workings of congressional Democrats in budgetary conferences and live interview settings.  Neither Woodall nor Collins supported Trump during the 2016 primary, and neither became vocally supportive of Trump during their 2018 campaigns, which almost caused Woodall to lose even before he was ready to go.  And so I hate at this point to retrace bygone matters and questionable dec...

Fifteen years after World War II ended, I began grammar school.  In those days, my friends and I loved to play war, simulating the conflict many of our dads had fought.  My dad turned 20 two weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Mom told me that shortly after the attack, Dad tried to enlist.  Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for me, Dad was turned down because he had a gimpy leg, a defect from a difficult birth.  My dad did his duty here at home, however, working at Marietta’s Bell Bomber Plant, although he lived with the lasting regret of being turned down for service.  Dad’s interest in the war his friends fought inspired him to study it to the extent that when he died he had collected hundreds of volumes in a WWII library, each in its turn he had personally scoured for additional information about the war he missed.  After he died, I proudly donated his library to our alma mater, Georgia Tech.  Dad always felt in awe of his friends who se...

According to President Trump, China has been using America as its own personal piggy bank.  Is that true?  I ask because on the surface, Americans receive products made cheap overseas in exchange for dollars.  That’s a free market, right?  Well, no it’s not.  But to understand why, ask yourself these questions: Why does China even want US dollars?  Why does China hold US dollars in reserve?  Why does China buy US Treasuries with its excess dollars?  And here is the big question for all Americans, if America exports dollars to China and the world the tune of $800 billion each year, meaning that $800 billion actually exit the fifty states destined for foreign accounts, don’t those dollars have to be replaced?   Where do replacement dollars come from?  Okay, now we’re thinking.  Let’s get some answers. Saying it’s so does not make it so.  Therefore, to the extent possible within my allotted space, each week I try to unfold the world as I see it, but also explain why.  In an open format I might derive and hammer each point I make, citing each source as I go, leaving nothing to doubt.  But an analysis of that sort is not practical here, writing opinion pieces for the paper.  That’s not a bad thing. The Mueller Report is published.  Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is resigned.
