Crazy Bernie Leads Cartoon Democrats

Image
As a child of the 1960’s, I remember taking Democrat political figures very seriously.  I remember listening to President John F. Kennedy speak on TV.  He advocated peace through strength, working together with our foreign neighbors, tax cuts and the continued revitalization of the American economy.  Sound familiar? I remember news reports of race riots in Selma, Alabama and unrest in Montgomery.  I remember President Kennedy calling out the national guard to open the doors for a black student to enter the University of Alabama, very serious events.  As a little kid, I watched the news with my dad.  Every so often I would ask a question and dad would try to answer it in a way child my age might understand.  I remember the Cuban missile crisis, and being trained at school to climb under my desk and cover my head in case the Russians launched missiles from Cuba, or “Cuber,” as President Kennedy would say it, all very serious stuff. I remember Vie...

Restore Power to the People

Image
When asked the proper division of political power between the American people and their representatives in government, the author of the Declaration of Independence and third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, answered the following: “What has destroyed liberty and the rights of man in every government which has ever existed under the sun? The generalising & concentrating all cares and powers into one body…And I do believe that if the Almighty has not decreed that Man shall never be free, that the secret will be found to be in the making himself the depository of the powers respecting himself, so far as he is competent to them, and delegating only what is beyond his competence by a synthetical process, to higher & higher orders of functionaries, so as to trust fewer and fewer powers, in proportion, as the trustees become more and more oligarchical.”   Jefferson recognized the self-evident truth of America’s founding, which is embodied in the U.S. Consti...

Waging America’s 2nd Civil War

Image
A year and a half ago I wrote of a war mobilizing, not abroad, but right here in America.  I wrote that in today’s world our enemies walk among us. They wage wars of misinformation and disinformation designed to foster confusion and distrust among the American people.  I described how our enemies subtly charm us to believe as they do, attempting to soften our resolve toward denying their ultimate purposes.  I observed that while there are many who recognize and resist the efforts of America’s internal enemies, there are just as many, unfortunately, who succumb to their covert messaging, believing the lies and misrepresentations as they would any proven axiom.  And I wrote that reconciling the resulting differences among the American people would become the issue of our generation.  Here we are, right where I said we would be, sadly. America has become the house stringently divided I predicted.  Maintaining that divide is the only way the enemy can remai...

Iraq Wants American Forces Gone…Again

Image
On December 31, 2011, after an 8-year presence that included the 2003-4 war ousting Iraq’s leader Saddam Hussein, the last American military forces exited Iraq.   But it’s not that President Barack Obama wanted to leave.   The very purpose of America being in Iraq had not been fully accomplished.   Oh, yes, Saddam was long gone by then, death by the gallows.   And, oops, there were no weapons of mass destruction after all.   Sorry about that, Mr. Hussein.   Our bad. You see, the real purpose behind the overthrow of Saddam and 8-year occupation had nothing to do with WMD.  The real purpose was two-fold.  First, in 1999, with the value of the Euro steadily increasing against the dollar, Saddam Hussein declared Iraq would no longer accept American currency in exchange for its oil, opting for Euros instead.  That was strike one.  Saddam had to go.  Four years later Saddam is found holed-up under the ground in his hometown...
